Visit to HQ NCC

Anti-gravity!

CLIMB!!

Bull's eye!!!

Jethra Chan (Tampines Sec Sch)
we got to visit the ncc headquaters today. it was to me the highlight of the day, we got to do some archery, wall climbing and others. however it startedto rain halfway through the activity. what a downside. it dampened all ofour excitement, non the less we still had fun, my favourite was the tunnel i loved the crawling and frankly wished that it was slightly longer andmuddier! that would be fun! i was glad that wanita was adventurous enough totry them out. however, i was not able to fully enjoy the day as my mind was set on tomorrow, i have an investiture! and the worst of all, i'm the emceeand i did not go for today's reherasal. i hope that everything will go smoothly! i have my fingers crossed!
Darren Li (Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch)
Today's NCC camp was fun and enriching. We learnt the many > different values which cannot be taught from a textbook. > Unfortunately, they refused to allow us to take any photos or > bring any electric devices into the facility....which puzzles us > as there's nothing so secretive about the whole area honestly. > the balancing platform took a lot of teamwork to pull it off but > the most fun was still the archery where we got to awaken the > sleeping robin hoods within us. After the whole event, we were > pooped put. Can't wait to hit the sack.

Benjamin Oh (Tampines Sec Sch)
Today totally rocks. We went to HQ NCC :DIt was really fun today. We learnt alot about NCC.We have now know that NCC is actually the oldest uniform group, and also few of the activities they have there .. We begun with Archery. The whole bunch of us finally knew how to SHOOT!Hahas. It was kinda cool to try it ourself. The correct position, the correct holding method, the correct shooting method .. you say it all, we learnt it all! :D Next up were the Motivation Obstacle Course. It rocks! We went through a lot of the obstacles. They were all fun and we have all learnt something new - that is how to get through the obstacles. A light drizzle started and it was raining. We couldn't proceed with our 3rd activity and went to shelter before heading back.It was really a waste as we couldn't try to take part in our 3rd activity.
Eugene Pang (Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch)
Today we visited the NCC HQ. It was a short trip there and back as it is located at Yio Chu Kang Road. First we walked through the parade square and into the auditorium. Then we had a briefing before we proceeded to our activities. We had three activities; the first is the obstacle course. We learnt that we must work as a team to be able to complete a task prepared by the trainers. Then we went for the archery. It was fun looking at friends shooting, but unfortunately, I did not have a chance to shoot as it rained.but I already had the experience as I had tried it many times at other places. After that we took the bus and went home.

Ho Wan Tung (Belilios Public Sch - attached to Tampines Sec Sch)
Today after school, we visited the HCC site. We had a lot of activities there. The one I liked the most was archery. Everyone had five chances to try, and the man taught us the right position and how to hold the bow and arrows. I was not a good archer, and I never hit the target. However, I still felt very happy, because other students and my friends were supporting me behind me. I felt I was not alone. I felt the happiness of having friends and having support from others. It was really a fun game.
For the second activity, there was rain while the activity was carrying on, so we could only do the first half of it. I felt disappointed, but I still wanted to say thanks to the people who organized these activities for us. I knew they spent a lot of time preparing them, and I really enjoy and learn a lot.

Akmalina Zuhrah (Tampines Sec Sch) I never knew ncc was so fun. it was incredible. Archery was superb. the obsticale course was fun but unfortunately, the bad weather gave us no choice but to leave the campsite. i will never ever forget the little time i had there. till we meet again...

Sunny Sun Today's outing, the whole group went to NCC headquarters. There, everybody had a chance to do archery, obstacle course, and the low elements...or whatever you call it.For my group,we only managed to complete archery, and the obstacle course. The archery was rather hard, because we had to estimate the amount of strength and the aiming to get the arrow onto the board.Next, was the obstacle course. The whole course was really fun, even though I did not try going through the tunnel. The first one, which is the ramp, was quite fun!!Especially the climbing up part.Anyway, this was a fun trip, and I would like to have another go at it again!^^

Derrick Ng (Serangoon Garden Sec Sch) Hey!Today we went to the NCC headquaters at ang mo kiu camp.We learnt some things about the NCC and did some outdoor activities. But the one that i really miss is missing the achery course.I hope i could have at least try it as i have never tried before archery. Now,i would need to practice the cantonese song friend or else i may embaress myself and i really hope i can get the opportunity to tell everyone about my buddy

Karen Cheng Yu Lo (Tsuen Wan GSS - attached to Serangoon Garden Sec Sch) Today we went to visit the NCC HQ. I played many team games but also individual games there. All of them had good impact on me. Through the games, I can learn more skills and I can also make more friends, I think today's activity was really meaningful, I hope that I can join it again!

Tan Chor May (Serangoon Garden Sec Sch) COOL! today's trip was the best among the ones we've gone!! Low elements are fun, i wonder how high elements are! this trip taught me team spirit, teamwork, confidence and enthusiasium! I love it! I hope to go again!

Liu Wing Yan Today , we go to NCC headquarters and play some outing games , it is fun and execting . but in that moment , it have rain and teacher has stop us to do anything , what a pity !

Li Ka Wing (Tsuen Wan GSS- attached to Serangoon Garden Sec Sch) Today, we went to NCC HQ We played a lot of games, unfortunately, it rained , so we didn't have a nice time, but we still had fun. This was a memorable experience to play in thisHQ. At last, I would like to thank all the staff who helped us organise the activity for us. Thank YOu!

Ho King Wang (Queen's College - attached to Serangoon Garden Sec Sch) We went to the NCCHQ today. It is exciting. And there has lots of things to see and play.It is funny. And I have done my project. So it is not a problem .And I had a good dinner tonight too.

Koh Ta Ming (Serangoon Garden Sec Sch) Today we went to the NCC HQ.We saw lots of high & low elements there & a lot of perple was complaining that why are we not playing the flying fox. They explain to us & we played the less dangerous low element. It was quite fun but it rained when we played half way.I think thats all for today.

Beckie Ho (Pasir Ris Crest Sec Sch) Today we went to the NCC.First we watched a video about NCC's history. After that we went to learn to play. Then we went to play the ramp, the high wall, swimming bridge but I didn't play the tunnel because it will make me very dirty. It was a busy day and I was very tired.

URA , Singapore City Gallery

Valerie Chang (Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch) & YEUNG Wing In (Chiu Lut Sau Memorial SS)
We think that we're very fortunate to have actually participated in this programme. This programme has actually allow us to know each other.despite the fact that we're both from different country and have different lifestyles,we're glad we can communicate with each other very well !We would really like to thank all the teachers that have worked hard just to plan this for us .The sandcastle building was really great !It has taught us that teamwork plays a very important part in our daily life !Without teamwork,we can;t accomplish anything. It has also help us think that we're not alone and there's always people by our side !This has really motivated us and we felt loved at that particular point of time.We visted three very interesting and historical place today. They are the Kampong Glam which belongs to the malays, the lovely and cheerful chinatown which belongs to the chinese and lastly..little indian.which obviously belongs to the indians. We did alot of shopping and the school even organised for us to try indian's goodies !It was really yummy and unique. The hong kong people got to try something they have never tried in their life before !we visited many temples and we took many beautiful pictures !it was a fruitful trip and we enjoyed ourself very much !Every night after our activities,we will go to the gym and workout !We think it;s part of keeping fit !We are glad that we have the same interest which therefore allows us to do the things that satisfy both of us !My mother cooked curry for my hongkong buddy to try.I'm glad she liked it alot! We're sad that we only have one week left with each other. At first, we thought two weeks was very long..but after all the fun times we had together,we realise that two weeks is actually very short .We hope to have an oppotunity to have an exchange programme again !we didn't regret taking part and instead,we're very grateful to all the teachers that have specially planned this for us ! THANK YOU TEACHERS ! WE REALLY APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HARD EFFORTS ! WITHOUT U,ALL THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED !

Darren Li (Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch)
Today's tour started off at the URA centre where we got a bird's eye view of the island of Singapore. The models were built accurately to match the real thing. A video presentation and game hosted by Gurmit Singh gave us an insight on Singapore's history. Surprisingly, the book of places you should see before you die say's that you should go to Singapore's food centre's to before you get your 1 way ticket to heaven. After that, we went for a tour around the historical places. Unfortunately, we couldn't walk around Chinatown as it was raining. but we did get to walk around Kampong Glam and Little India as the rain had subsided by then. At Little India, we entered a temple. The statues inside were very beautifully carved and did not fail to amaze. The little knick-knacks sold at kampong glam were interesting as well, ranging from wooden stuff to old tin toys.

Beverley Lee ( Serangoon Garden Sec Sch)

Firstly, we went to school as per usual and then we were released at 1.10pm and boarded the bus at 2pm. We visited URA Building first as we were presented with a 3D model of Singapore. I found my mother's new and old office and told my buddy about it. Next we visited Kampong Glam as we went to shop a little before we went to Little India. In Kampong Glam, we were exposed to the rich malay/arab culture and bought a few things for gifts. We also shopped a little in Little India before we went home and rest.

Racial Harmony Day ! Team building ! Sandcastle building!

Benjamin Oh (Tampines Sec Sch)
It was totally cool ! :DThe sandcastle building totally rocks :D We have learnt how to make sandcastles, ranging from short, to big, marvelous looking buildings. We have also learnt that teamwork is the most important, from helping to get the water, helping to build a stronger base,it has all shown that teamwork is very important and it is impossible to do everything by 1 person alone. Understanding each other, cooperating with each other, communication between one and another, are all very important in everyone's life. Friends are important for each and everyone of us.Without them, our life wouldn't be completed. Although our finishing sandcastle wasn't really that great, we were all happy to have known each other! :D

Lee Jin Wei (Yio Chu Kang Sec) & Chow Nok To (Chiu Lut Sau Memerial SS)
Today, the both of us learnt that building sandcastles is more difficult than it actually seems. All the scooping and pouring and mixing and so on and so forth really tired the both of us. The objective was to design a castle suitable for the Harry Potter movie .Our first attempt to try and construct the cone on top of the castle ended in failure as the sand wasn't wet enough and this caused it to crumble. This temporary setback allowed the other team to clinch the fifty points leap start. With such a short timing, we hastily constructed a rather rough looking castle and to our greatest relief it stood. Also a few of our containers cracked during the process, making the construction time stretch much longer as the cracks meant that the structure may not stand as it was not compacted enough during the filling time. After the sand castle building, we were allowed to leave early as we had a concert to attend. Lloyd and Jon car-pooled with us. On the whole, we were as tired as a dog.

Fadzhana Manaf (Yio Chu kang Sec School)
Today is the day we celebrate racial harmony in Singapore. I was looking forward to this event as we Singaporeans have different religions and races. I wanted to tell my buddy all about racial harmony day but as a student leader, I have to do my duty at the canteen so I don't really spent time with her. In the afternoon, at the beach, I had lots of fun building sand castle for the second time. I learn more about the importance of teamwork today.

Eugene Pang (Yio Chu kang Secondary School)
Today my buddy and I celebrated racial harmony in school. I brought my buddy around the school to show him how the different races celebrate their cultures. After school we went to East Coast Park to build sand castle. It was fun working together with ny other friends to build a wonderful castle. It was really a fun and enjoyable day.

Jan Wing Yan ( Chiu Lut Sau Memorial S S - attached to Serangoon Garden School)
The friday in Singapore. This is the first day i go to 2E3.It's tatally different with the class i went before. They are quite quiet during the lessons.
Today is sooooooo special. For the rest time. There are some little shops for selling the food from different countries.I loved the Curry Chicken. It's very nice.We also went to the hall today for the inter-house drama competition.Um,,,it's so different with the Hong Kong's one. This one had a little bite.........is that i dont know what were they doing. It looked like rehoso not the competition. After school,we went to East Coast Park to ply the sand.Of cause, not just play.We had to make a castle.I totally know what team work mean today. At first,we didnt know what design we had, what are we going to do and we dont know each other. After it,our product was very ugly and going to collape, but we know each other more.I think that's why we had this activity.

About my buddy ...... (",)

Guys and gals... Want to share your views about your buddy? Let them know how much you love and appreciate them!

Tan Zhong Wei ~ Geylang Methodist School(Secondary)
Only a few days after the HK-SG exchange programme and i found out that gabriel's not a bad guy. Looking at all the other buddies, i feel kind of blessed. Gabriel's been very kind and is very good with manners. " thank you, your welcome, etc." keeps coming out of his mouth over and over again. This made a very good impression on both me and my family. Gabriel is also good enough to teach me french! HE's very talented I think, in languages and in music. He also seems very disciplined. I want to know more about him and i think it's very blessed to have him as my HK-SG exchange programme buddy.

Trip to Singapore Discovery Centre & Newater (18 July 2007 & 19 July 2007)

TSANG Jonathan Hoi Ki (Queen's College - attached to Yio Chu Kang Secondary School)

I went to school with Lloyd again today. We had English,Geography and other lessons. I enjoyed English class very much because I think the teacher is quite funny and she made the class much interesting than the others. Then, we went to the NEWater. It was good - it shows how domestic waste water can be transformed into drinkable water. The process to do it is actually quite complicated, so I actually just understood some of it. Later, we went into a room to watch a short video which showed the process so I understood better. The best thing is we all got a new bottle of NEWater; it is alright, a bit sweeter than the usual one.

i am pleased to say that Wanita and i have gotten to know each other a lot more and we are talking well with each other almost like as if we were best friends if you ask me. i've learnt that she is very hardworking and so are her parents, who take extra couses just like Singaporeans on top of their jobs to enrich their skills. i've also learnt that in Hong Kong they have worser land sarcity problems than in Singapore.
Today we went to visit the Singapore Discovery Centre. It was very interesting as they got to see our military training area and understand more in depth about our different ethic groups. i'm having a great time despite my very busy schedule in school due to my involvement.

By Sean, Lok Yan & STEVEN But it was still fun right ? x)Arrived at Singapore Discovery Centre and was given a little tour. The place was cool, and we went together in groups (Me, Sean, Kelly, Sherline and our Hong Kong buddies)Visit this and that, that and this. And soon, it was time to go home ):On board the bus, most of us were tired. Especially Lok Yan =X He fall asleep :DI napped a while, and after which, chatted with the other peeps. and YAY. Today I have lots of fun in school, it is very amusing in my class as many great things happened. Although me and Donald are very tired as we did not sleep well, we manage to pull through the day. I was dismissed at 1+ and did not join my class for swimming lesson, so me and Donald decided to wait at the foyer tables till 1.20. Time flies and i shall bring the time a little foward to the NEWater factory which is what Jonathan called as the waste(our droppings) water park. Kinda bad, huh? But we can’t blame him as many people know that is what it is about. I am VERY fascinated by the high technology they use in there just to get a clean glass of water and i will conserve the water around me now.

Akmalina Zuhrah (Tampines Sec)
We learnt a lot from the Newater plant. We learnt about how water in Singapore is reused to supply Singapore with sufficient water to survive. The process was fascinating!
We then went shopping at Tampines Mall and Century Square with Jethra and her buddy. The 2 HK girls were excited to start shopping. It was cute to see them running around all so excited.

NEWATER PLANT - 18 July
The Newater tour was informative and interesting. It's amazing that they manage to incorporate a viewing area in a factory. The tour guides provided us with interesting facts about this newly opened plant which uses state of the art technology to filter our everyday drinking water. Inside, there was even a glass floor fountain that was fifthteen meters deep, equipped with lights. It looked spectacular and could change color like a lizard. As we proceeded onwards , the different exhibits helped us to unnderstand how this complex system of filters actually works. The filters look a lot like the baleen of a whale although the guide said it looked more like spaghetti. One of the exhibits enlarged the particles to scales of a tennis ball, a soccer ball, a truck and a shopping centre. We feel that this makes it easier for children to relate to this. There was even a game area where you could test your knowledge about the different uses of water and how to conserve it. We enjoyed ourselves.

SINGAPORE DISCOVERY CENTRE - 19 July 2007 Today, we visited the Singapore Discovery Centre. This huge complex can accommodate around four thousand soldiers. Around the facility, there are retired a-4 skyhawk aircraft aircraft and old un-used British tanks. There is a training complex where they train solders to be colonels and other higher ranking officers. We saw a few soldiers doing basic foot drills and marches. In the middle stands a tall tower with over two-hundred steps. Upon reaching the top, the only way down is by a scaling down the roof. There's a huge library which boast over a few hundred books. In the main complex, there is a cinema where you can catch the latest movies in 3D. There are different sorts of games which teach different value s, all which are important. It's a very innovative way to teach values in games rather than preaching them from a book. Unfortunately, we are unable to present any photos as picture taking was not allowed in the main gallery. Another interesting place is the shooting rang. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.

Leung Chi Loi (Tsuen Wai GSS)
We played many exciting games at the discovery center today. We played a game related to Enterprising. There was also a game digitally projected on a wheel where 5 to 7 people can play at the same time it was really challenging though as everyone had to work together to get the ball to the goal. The SAFTI bus ride was interesting too as we saw the army camp of future SAF officers which was very nice as I saw many monuments that represented the SAF and there were many outstanding structures there too

I feel tired today. I really want to have more time to sleep. We have lessons with a broken teacher desk in front of me. It looks funny. I've learnt new things, such as science and geography. I 've no idea what the science lesson teach. I've never learn about atom and ion. But I am going to have a test tomorrow, so good luck to me!The Singapore Discovery Centre was really fun. The games are perfect. I hope I can come back with my family next time!

Wong Lok Yan (South Tuen Mun GSS)

This afternoon , we went to the NEWater Visitors' Centre. I learnt about water and how important it is. The use of NEWater has helped to solve Singapore's water problem. I think this kind of visit is very educational and helps me to learn a lot .

Hoe Wai Yi (Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch) & LEUNG Kei Yan Karen (South Tuen Mun GSS)
After the morning assembly we had a PE lesson and played basketball. It was very hot felt and we felt tired. We also had some fun time. After that we had Maths and we cut some paper in different shapes. During recess we ate a bowl of noodles each. It tasted delicious.... after the recess we had science lesson. We learnt the differences between reflection and refraction. Finally during the Home Economic lesson we learned how to bake a cake. The activity was fun and exciting. In the afternoon we visited NEWater. The speaker was jovial and we enjoyed ourselves.

Eugene Pang (Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch)
Today we visited the Singapore Discovery Centre. It was better after it was renovated . It has more exhibits than the last time. Now I know more about Singapore history and things that people have invented.

Mak Yung Ka (Yuen Long Public S S -attached to Serangoon Garden Sec Sch)

We went to the Discovery Center today. It is quite far away from our school. I have been there before but this the first time for Yung ka to visit it, she said that it was bigger then she thought. We have been to the shooting gallery to see some people to play the shooting games, and it liked a real war game. And had fun today.

Shanice (Pasir Ris Crest Sec Sch)
today we went to the NewWater VC. had about one hour tour. i get to know more about the processes of the water from newater. i've learned something today [:

Emily (Clementi Sec Sch)
It was my fifth day in the Singapore. I still went to school, but it had different lesson to learn. In thereading time, teacher gave us a paper. It was some song on it. And we sang together. Then, we had science lesson and maths lesson. After these lesson, it wasart lesson. Some classmates told me that my picturewas so cute, I was so happy about that :) But todayhad something that I felt sad :(, and I want to saysomething to all the people,"Marco is not myboyfriend!!!"I think it's not a joke.

Joycelyn Soh(Yio Chu kang Sec Sch) Today's trip to NEWater VC was fun and educational. The NEWater is different from the water that we usually drink. Its taste sweeter and nicer. Through the trip, I get to know more about how the water ( from the rivers, lakes and seas ) is processed and made into drinkable water. =D

Thurs 19th...We went to the Singapore Discovery Centre and had a tour around it today. It was actually quite interesting but at the same time, boring. The thing that I like most is the talking robot ( i forgot the name..=X ). He can answer any questions you ask him and also joke with you. Overall, the trip was fun though.

Li Ka Wing Karen (Tsuen Wan GSS - attached to Serangoon Garden Sec Sch)

When we have the morning assembly, we need to sit on the ground.I'm not usedto sitting on the ground.I think I can accept it later! Our first lesson isMother Tongue, this is the only lesson that I can hear clearly and understandit. In the afternoon,we go to NEWater VC,it's far away from our school. In theNEWater Vc I can know a lot about how Singaporeget the water resources.Wevisit it for about two hours, then we go back to school. From Irene

Wong Pei Ting (Serangoon Garden Sec Sch)
We had Science test today. It was ok for me. Today Ms Lee and other teacherscame to our class to take some pictures. Then we went to the NEWater VC.This is my second time going there. There is nothing much to do there. So itwas quite boring for me. But I also learnt how reuse the water and the processes.

Valerie Chang (Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch) our school organised a trip to NEWater Plant. I've learnt how advance Singapore is. It's my first visit to the NEWater Plant. I think it's useful and enjoy the talks and video clips shown. In my opinion, I think it's interesting and the speaker has alot of humour which made everything so fun today.

Yeung Wing In (Chiu Lut Sau Memorial SS - attached to Yio Chu Kang Sec Sch)
I learnt the process of making NEWater and its advantages.Fristly, I didn't enjoy the show but later, I thought it was quite interesting and useful. The speaker was also humourous. All the friends talked in the bus and I understood them more.

On the19th July, I went to The Singapore Discovery Center. It is huge and beautiful. I took a lot of fantastic photos. However, the talk was a little bit boring. It was just something about the development of Singapore ,etc. Fortunately, I had lots of fun during the free time, like taking photos and walking around The Discovery Center. Anyway, it was a nice day

Sandy Wang (Pasir Ris Crest Sec Sch)

We went to Newater Visitor Centre today after school. And we learnt about the process of producing Newater. In the middle of the trip, we got to try out the taste of it. It was not my first attempt drinking it, but it was for Yung Ka. She does not get used to drinking the and feels that there is a weird taste in it, and i agree too. After this meaningful trip, we learn to treasure the water as we decided not to waste anymore of it and ended up drinking Newater.

Lydia Yong (Pasir Ris Crest Sec Sch)
Today, we went to Singapore Discovery Centre after attending a fewlessons in school... Everything was fine but we had a very long day...Therefore, I am very tired... haha... hope I can get more sleep tomorrow asit would be a shorter day for us... Though its my first time going to theSingapore Discovery Centre, I enjoyed this trip... =) I love the games thatwe tried and the shows we watched... we toured around the SAFTI MI too...haha... I realised that I had been there a few years back... =) it looks so familiar... lol... overall, I had enjoyed myself and look forward to ournext outing... =)

it was because i am burning the midnight oil. i was revising for my biology test yesterday and yungka was watching a scv movie with my family. and there will be another midnight oil burning tonight for the geography test.

Joyclyn (Pasir Ris Crest Sec Sch)
Today, we went to Singapore Discovery Centre. It was a rather long journey as it is located in Tuas. We had a tour around SAFTI. That was not my first time there as that was my brothers camp. Getting to go to Singapore Discovery Centre once again was a good experience. Singapore Discovery Centre had also changed alot. The difference I noticed between the Singapore and Hong Kong students is that they pay more attention to the teacher compared to the Singaporean students. Maybe its because they do not understand everything the teacher said as it was in english. My buddy is also ALOT quieter compared to us. I guess it is because she is not too used to the new environment.

Poon Kin Kwan (Minnie) (Tsuen Wan G S S - attached to Pasir Ris Crest Sec Sch)
Today is the second day for me to study in Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School and I began to feel that it was really quite fun to study here. At first, I didn't have many friends and it made me feel very lonely. But now, I had much more friends than before and I felt much better to study here.
Today, in the afternoon, we went to the Singapore Discovery Centre to have a visit there. In the Discovery Centre, we saw many things about Singapore and we also played many games. I think that it was really fun to visit there and I love the games there very much. They were extremely fun, especially the robot--Little George. I found it so amusing that it really knew how to respond people.
I feel very happy today becauseI think that I am getting to be involved in class and I hope that in the following few days, I can become good friend of everyone and have the most memorable time I ever have. >v< Leung Wai Shan (Tin Shui Wai G S S - attached to Pasir Ris Crest Sec Sch)

today we visited the NewWater factory. There we saw many appealing and interesting things that kept both of us very very very very interested. we saw how our waste water like our urine and other unwanted liquid substances that we can obtain could be turned into pure drinking water, refined till its best.... However, there was a boy named kwan wai yu that kept disturbing us throughout the whole magical experience with such an interesting topic. Such chances do not come by everyday, therefore, we should cherish every second to the fullest, but we were appaled at his behaviour at the NewWater plant... but us, being very kind souls, we will forgive his childish and inmature acts...
